Executive Summary
The British Deputy High Commission, in collaboration with ASIRI Magazine, has launched "HerStory of Nigeria: Women, Power and Protest in Lagos (1910–1950)" to commemorate International Women’s Day 2026. Unveiled on March 9, the project aims to highlight the contributions of Nigerian women to the nation’s socio-political history within the Commonwealth narrative. Simon Field, Deputy Head of Mission, emphasized the project's role in deepening cooperation on security, migration, and economic growth. Dr. Oludamola Adebowale, the Project Director, highlighted the importance of proper research and information in documenting history. The project will create a digital archive to preserve women's stories, struggles, leadership, and cultural impact from the 18th century to the present day.
